A get away for all seasons

A few years ago for my husband's birthday, we drove north of the city to enjoy a weekend away at Hockley Valley. It was early January right after the Christmas rush and there was a peacefulness at the resort which was a welcome change to everyday life. We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon and were impressed by the exterior of the building which was very welcoming. As we went onto check in, I noticed the cozy lobby bar and adjoining restaurant and thought, everything I need is right here!
After a brief visit to our comfortable and quaint room, we decided to take a quick peak from our balcony outside to the skill hill as day became night and both skiers and snowboarders were either enjoying the slopes or sitting by a few of the camp fires. There was a very good vibe all in all here I could tell. We then headed down to Cabin Restaurant which only had great reviews online and I too would have to agree now that I have eaten there. The portions were just right, the presentation lovely, the food tasted delicious and the service was great. I can still remember the herb and parmesan fries. It is safe to say, I was not expecting such a culinary experience.
After such positive experience, we decided to go back in the summer to enjoy their outdoor pool, golf course and of course the food. The resort was not overcrowded, less busy with kids with ski season behind us and the food was just a memorable. On one of the nights, I ordered the chef special, which was a bit of a surprise, presented on a black slate slab with an assortment of fresh vegetables which they grow locally. They also have their own featured wines from the Adamo Winery, which is just down the road from the resort. Relaxing pool side, dining on the outdoor patio and sipping some chardonnay locally grown and produced is a great way to start and celebrate summer holidays.
The Adamo winery has a boutique kind of feel, it is intimate and cozy and The Cafe features locally sourced farm to table ingredients. For those of you who enjoy wine, tours are available as well as wine tasting. Or you can just take a seat on the outdoor patio overlooking the vineyard and enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Be it a birthday surprise, a girls spa weekend, weddings or just some R &R, Hockley Valley ticked a lot of boxes on my wish list. Maybe it will do the same for you!
