Fast cars, cute drivers with a touch of oh la la!

This weekend should have been a Formula 1 Weekend away in Montreal. Formula 1 you ask. Let me explain.

Almost 20 years ago my husband introduced me to car racing. I know, I know, car racing, that is how I felt at first. So to prepare me for the big weekend at a live race in Montreal, we would watch F1 on TV every other Sunday morning. There would be races in Australia, Japan, Monaco and Bahrain to name a few. Every other weekend, I would be in a new city enjoying the sites and sounds of not only the race but parts of the city, through the magic of television. As F1 travelled throughout the world, my interest only grew.

The cars themselves are slick aerodynamic with either Mercedes, Ferrari and Honda V8engines and are driven by the elite of elite drivers. The drivers, now they deserve a little recognition too. These young coincidentally attractive and fearless did I already say attractive men sure make it look easy driving over 200 km/hour nose to nose with other drivers in order to get to the finish first. Unfortunately for some, their race day may end with a crash or engine failure. While others make it to the podium to celebrate with their trophy and champagne shower. The best car and best driver equal the best overall package!

As we drove into Montreal for our very first Formula 1 weekend, we could hear the racing cars even though we were no where near the track. It is safe to say we were pretty pumped just be simply hearing these mighty machines! Being at the track in person was something else. To actually hear just how load these cars are and how fast they really go, was worth the not so cheap weekend pass. To walk around amongst other car racing fanatics from the USA, Europe and Asia, sure gave the weekend an international feel.

The vibe in Montreal during the weekend was alive and wild! Throughout the city, there were racing flags where ever you looked. From bars, to restaurants even boutique windows where the designer clad mannequins help little checkered flags. Crescent Street was so congested with fans and patios filled with patrons, I could barely make my way up the street to see exotic cars since we were not getting into any restaurant for a drink or meal. People walking around with their F1 merchandise, others giving out promo pamphlets for bars and parties and young model like girls with just body paint walking around. Not exactly sure what they were promoting??

The hi-light of a F1 weekend in Montreal is obviously the race, but Montreal has a lot to offer too as the host city. From great international cuisine, to trendy shopping and historical sites. Like a successful Formula 1 team (car and driver), Montreal is the best overall package for a F1 weekend on Canadian soil. So here is to 2021 and a much long awaited F1 weekend away dans la belle province.

You paint a vivid picture, Nancy. Mike here. I have fond memories of the one time I went, when I was in my early twenties. It was electrifying, like making love to beautiful women. And the cars, they are feminine, no!? Beautiful and shapely, and full of vroooom! Ah, yes, you paint a vivid image my internal friend. Bella!
