Is web browsing the new window shopping?

It is hard to believe that I have not been in a mall in over three months. It is no secret that amongst certain relatives I am known as Madam Mall and for good reason. Sometimes the mall is where I shop for gifts, myself included. Other times it was just an escape from work and home. Then Covid -19 happened.

Initially I really did not leave the house unless I had to buy food, a necessity. So I often found myself browsing pinterest for ideas and then I would go to H&M, Anthopologie and Sephora online to see what was new. I did notice there were a lot more options, more merchandise and you got to love the free shipping. So why not order that new sun dress, maybe by summer we can actually leave the house to visit people. Amazon is another site where I can pretty much find anything, well I am still waiting for the one thing I ordered (a sweater) two months ago which now feels like forever. The novelty of online shopping has worn off it seems. My husband will be thrilled, American Express not so much!

As time has gone by, I realize I have no real desire to look online for tanks tops, makeup or shoes. I have learned that I am that person that needs to see the product, touch it and try it on. I enjoy walking into a store and seeing all the perfumes lining the walls, not so much because of the variety but to see all the pretty bottles in all the different colours. The same can be said when I see purses, from small clutches to large totes, purses to me are like art, every one of them needs to be admired and appreciated.

I guess I am more traditional than I thought. I still prefer the old fashion way of shopping in an actual store or boutique. So is web browsing the new window shopping ? Not for this girl, a.k.a Madam Mall!
