Shari Lapena

Who you ask? For those of you who are not avid readers of murder mysteries, Shari Lapena has authored four (that I have read) fantastic novels of intrigue and suspense. Shari, who once worked as a lawyer and English teacher is also a Canadian, so what is not to love about supporting one of our own.

I first heard of Shari on CTV's the Morning Show and shortly after I made my way to Indigo books and purchased her first bestseller, The Couple Next Door. I can still remember reading in my back garden on many warm summer days and I just could not put it down. I could not wait to read the next clue to the mystery of who took the baby. I really do not want to give too much away. But I can guarantee the book does not disappoint.

Her second bestseller was A Stranger in the House. Once again, Shari drew me in as a reader in her latest thriller of a housewife that goes on a roller coaster of events after a suspicious accident not knowing what is happening and why. With of course a well crafted twist at the end, thanks to Shari Lapena's razor sharp writing. As usual, I was hooked from page one right till the end.

The Unwanted Guest is my most recent read and I was not disappointed. I have noticed that I enjoy Shari's books so much that they do not take me long to read. In The Unwanted Guest, Shari has compiled a group of interesting guests all staying in a inn outside of NYC, on a very cold, stormy icy night, where not one but multiple deaths then occur. It is your classic who did it kind of book, if you like Agatha Christie, you will like Shari Lapena.

Her most recent book and one that I only just started is Someone We Know. I have never been one to buy books from the same author, but I know that every book that I have read so far from Shari Lapena has never disappointed. Her writing is so descriptive, that I can vividly imagine exactly what is happening as I turn to the next page, asking myself what will happen next? Needless to say, I am looking forward to Shari's fourth and latest thriller and I hope this is not her last.
