We must never forget

We just celebrated Halloween and yet stores already have out their Christmas decor and merchandise. I noticed some Christmas commercials have started airing and just yesterday, October 31, The Polar Express was on TV. Do not get me wrong, I do enjoy decorating at Christmas, seeing the outdoor lights and attending the various Christmas social festivities. However it is important that before we transition from Halloween to Christmas , we must not forget!

We must not forget our Veterans, if it were not for them, our lives may look a bit or a lot different than it does today. Young men and women who left their families behind to fight in WW1, WW2, the Korean War, and more recently those who have been deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. These soldiers have given up their lives for us, the ultimate sacrifice. The least we can do is stop to remember. As people worry about what to buy for Christmas or where to find the latest and greatest toy for their child, other families will have an empty seat at their Christmas table due to the fact they have lost someone to war.

On November 11, please stop and remember. Remember those who did not come home after the War, thank those who did and most of all wear a poppy to honour ALL Veterans.

Lest we forget, that Remembrance Day still comes before Christmas.
