As I sit here getting inspiration from the attached image, I can hear some of my readers grunt at the site of winter. For some, winter means cold days and nights, snowy weather and icy roads, which in fact is all true. For me, winter means just one more of our four seasons in Canada that I have the pleasure to enjoy. Yes, I did say enjoy.
As I took a walk after our most recent snowfall, I could not but stop and take in the beauty and stillness of the freshly fallen snow. There was a sense of calm which was a welcome change after the busy lead up to Christmas. It seems that things just slow down after a snowfall, which I think is mother nature's way of saying stop and enjoy.
A snow fall is a great excuse to stay indoors in comfy slippers, listening to the the sounds of the crackling of a fire while sipping hot chocolate. Or its a great opportunity to take a crisp walk, with the sun hitting your face naturally keeping you warm as you hear your foot steps crunching down on the snow. Winter brings many opportunities to get outdoors, be it for skiing, tobogganing, skating or just talking a walk to catch up with a friend. It's not all that bad!
Winter in Canada is as pretty as a post card. To see the fresh fallen snow reminds me of a big fuzzy blanket, covering our beautiful country keeping it warm till spring. So pull out your boots and your parka and capture your own postcard moment this winter.
