You got to eat here, Butchies (Whitby)

If you are a Durham Region local and on Highway 2, you may have seen an old coffee shop now transformed into a fast food diner with a twist! Owned by Food Network Personality, Andrea Nicholson, Butchies serves fast but yet comforting food. Named after her father, Butchies is located in Whitby for both indoor and outdoor dining. If you enjoy craft beer, Butchies, is also the place for you as it offers a varied selection, as well as non alcoholic beverages such as ice cream floats.

Then menu isn't vast but it is tasty. Meat + 3. You select one meat then have a choice of 1,2 or 3 sides. Options include, Buttermilk Friend Chicken, handhelds such as the Hot Nashville, Pulled Pork, the Classic Burger or one of my favourites the Pulled Chicken Sandwich. Tuesday of course are Taco Tuesdays. It also has to be said that Chef Nicholson is always creating and innovating with her daily specials. Once you have decided on your protein, you have a choice of fries, cucumber salad, mac n'cheese, coleslaw, broccoli salad and hush puppies to name just a few. What is a hush puppy, the best way I can describe it as deep fried cornmeal dough. If you still have room, then try one of the home made pies, ice cream or or both! And just his past May, Butchies cooked up some new desserts, featuring ice cream sandwiches (bananasbybutchies on Instagram). Picture it, two cinnamon buns with vanilla ice cream in the middle or chocolate sprinkle cookies with cheese cake filling ice cream! Wear your stretch pants I say!
